More Colorado stories

We loved driving through the beautiful forests to a from picnics, fishing, and activities! Thus, we were able to see lots more elk. That first night (when we had such great animal sightings-mentioned in an earlier post) my camera was out of batteries, so I didn't manage to get any pictures of the moose or elk. So, the rest of the week I had my camera handy, no matter what! Unfortunately we didn't see any more moose, and all the elk were a little further away.
Grandma gave the boys shelled peanuts to carry around in their pockets all week, so they could feed the squirrels and chipmunks anytime they like. They had so much fun putting the peanuts on the ground and then waiting to see if something would come out and eat it! We saw many squirrels, chipmunks, and birds that very much liked peanuts and were not scared to come right up to us and take them! They were fast little critters too! The kids would laugh and scream any time they saw one come, I was surprised they still came.

This lake was one we remembered well from our last visit.

Justin was just a young baby, and we had come down for a week. On that trip, we had tried to see how many different places we could picnic while we were there, and this one was our favorite. It is a beautiful lake, with picnic tables right by the shore. There are beautiful houses all along the shore of the lake and lots of boats. We saw a mother moose and her calf bathing in the water.

This time it was also a beautiful day, but a little colder and a few more surprise snow flakes. It was a nice picnic.

You look like you had a lot of fun! I should Visit Colorado more often! I can't believe you got to be in snow and we were stuck here in the convection oven that is the valley. Glad you're home.
