Playing with our chipmunk friends

It all started with Tyler deciding he wanted to train the many chipmunks in the yard to go where Tyler wanted them to go. Tyler and Justin made a path on the ground of peanuts for the chipmunks to follow. Then wanted to lead them up the tree, so they taped the peanuts to the tree.
There was a whole family of chipmunks or more.
At one point I counted 8 that I could see all at the same time, and I know there were more in and out of the yard. Some of them were really young, and so cute. But it was so funny to see the big ones fill their cheeks with food, and play with them!

So grandma had this idea to put the peanuts on our feet, and wait and see if the chipmunks would come and take them from us.
It worked!
We played outside for a couple of hours every afternoon after we discovered they would come up to us. Even Logan played outside and saw the chipmunks!
The chipmunks were not the least bit afraid!
It was so cute to watch the kids so excited about how close they would come. They giggled when one would touch them!

The chipmunks would tickle our feet just a little, when they picked up the nuts.

They got so comfortable with us that they started jumping on our laps, looking for nuts, even when we didn't have any!
